Mangochi in Malawi is one of the districts which is along the Lake. Most of the people are illiterate and the Bible Society through the finish Bible society have introduced a Literacy program to teach people especially women to learn how to read and write.
The Literacy programs usually runs from March to September since this the time when most people have cleared their gardens. It has been a success story since its initiation as more than 500 women in Mangonchi and Namwera are able to read and write and even count. This program will run for 5 years but funds permitting it will continue up to 10 years and then it will handed over to the communities in these areas.
